Pork exports set new record in September

Brazilian pork exports (including all products, fresh and processed) totaled 112,200 tons in September, setting a new record for monthly exports in the sector. The information is from ABPA (the Brazilian association of animal protein). The volume is 29.7% greater than the 86,500 tons shipped in the same period in 2020 and breaks the record set in March this year, of 109,200 tons.
September exports generated US$ 255.8 million in revenue, 35.6% more than in September 2020, with US$ 188.5 million.
Year-to-date (January to September), Brazilian pork exports reached 868,800 tons, 13.58% higher than the 764,900 tons shipped in 2020. In the same period, pork exports generated revenue of US$ 2.061 billion, a 22.9% increase over the US$ 1.677 billion registered last year.

China continues to be the main destination for Brazilian pork exports, importing 53,400 tons in September, a 22% increase over the same period in 2020. Next is Hong Kong, importing 15,700 tons (+60 .9%), and Chile, importing 4,800 tons (+24.5%).
“Other markets in Asia and South America also increased their imports, including the Philippines, Argentina, Japan, and others, contributing to the sector surpassing the US$ 2 billion mark in exports in just nine months”, completes the director of markets from ABPA, Luís Rua.
