Pork Industry: Paraná Bets on Export Growth and Cost Caution in 2025
Dec, 30, 2024 Posted by Denise VileraWeek 3034
The pork sector in Paraná has positive prospects for 2025, with experts predicting sustainable growth in production and exports.
The state, which boasts around 7,000 commercial farms dedicated to pig farming, currently accounts for 21% of Brazil’s pork production, ranking second in the country behind Santa Catarina (29%).
Growth with Caution
The sector’s recovery, which began in 2024, is expected to drive the expansion of farms and herds. However, the projected growth for 2025 is set to occur cautiously, given the sector’s reliance on feed input costs such as corn and soybeans. Climatic issues have affected the second corn crop (safrinha), impacting supply and prices.
Experts suggest that the first half of 2025 will be more favorable for producers, with a heated market.
However, caution will likely prevail in the second half due to uncertainties surrounding harvests.
