Antaq will hold a virtual public hearing to obtain contributions to improve processes related to the Port of Itajaí (SC) lease. The meeting will be on April 7, 2022, starting at 3:00 pm.
The Port of Itajaí lease will allow the future concessionaire to manage the port and run container operations there, providing services directly to port users (shippers, exporters, and importers). The funds needed to upgrade the infrastructure are estimated to be around R$ 2.8 billion.
The company that is granted the contract will have to pay the sum during the contract’s 35-year term, which is extendable for up to 70 years at the discretion of the Ministry of Infrastructure. In addition to investing in new assets, another R$ 44.4 million will be paid as compensation for unamortized/depreciated assets.
The projected value of the concession agreement, including the present value of tariff and non-tariff revenues, is R$7.8 billion. The grant amount, which will be used as the criterion for the auction, must be at least R$ 603 million.
Brazilian or foreign legal entities may participate in the tender, including financial institutions, equity investment funds, and supplementary pension entities. However, consortiums between shipping companies and their corresponding controllers and subsidiaries that run port facility operations dedicated to handling or storing containers and general cargo in the port complexes of Itajaí and São Francisco do Sul are prohibited.
The hearing’s dynamic
The entire virtual session will be streamed online, as well as recorded and made available on ANTAQ’s YouTube channel. It is not necessary to register to attend the Public Hearing in this case.
Those who wish to speak at the hearing can register by contacting (61) 2029-6940 on the “Whatsapp” messaging app. On April 7, 2022, applications will be accepted from 9 am until 2 pm. Contributions can be provided by video, audio, or even in writing via the app.
