Port of Imbituba receives record urea import

This week, the Port of Imbituba is unloading 69,300 tons of urea. This is the largest volume of this cargo ever handled in a single vessel in the public port in southern Santa Catarina. The product was imported from Oman in the Middle East and will be fully unloaded this Friday, July 23. The largest urea transport recorded at the Port of Imbituba was in June 2019, with 66,000 tons handled.
The new milestone occurs on the ship moored at Pier 1, the LAUSANNE, via a system that includes two MHC-type mobile cranes and hoppers for loading onto trucks. The vessel was built in 2006, sails under the Marshall Islands flag, and has a length (LOA) of 228.9 meters, equivalent to the length of two football fields. Its width is 32.2 meters. Granéis Imbituba is carrying out this port operation, and Friendship is in charge of the administration.
The urea is from the company Tecnogran and will be used as a fertilizer in national agricultural production.
