Port of Imbituba throughput reaches 695,000 tonnes in August

The Port of Imbituba saw a throughput of 695.6 thousand tonnes last month, making it the best August in the port’s history. Compared to the same period in 2021, handling rates grew by 4.2%, with a total of 23 vessels served mainly for exports.
The most handled products in August were wind farm equipment, non-calcined coke, calcined coke, soybean meal, and wood logs. In addition to these cargoes, the port exported for the first time a cargo load of pig iron used in the production of steel.
From January to August, the Port of Imbituba handled 4.9 million tonnes. According to the projections of the Port Authority, the perspective is to end 2022 with more than 7 million tonnes handled.
