Representatives from an Asian port operator, which ranks among the world’s largest, were spotted on Monday (4) during a technical visit to the Port of Itajaí. They were accompanied by Jonny Kaniak, an entrepreneur who was one of the founders of the Vale do Itajaí Container Terminal (Teconvi), the first lessee of the Port of Itajaí, which later transferred its operations to APM Terminals.
The group that visited the port evaluated the facilities – a task carried out by various companies interested in the temporary concession of the Port of Itajaí launched by the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq).
So far, six companies have conducted technical visits to the terminal, including subsidiaries of multinational companies from Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The temporary concession tender, for a period of two years, will open for bids on the 13th of this month, next week.
