The Port of Itaqui successfully performed another strategic operation, showcasing its advanced infrastructure and logistical efficiency. This time, the cargo involved was equipment for ENEVA’s first proprietary drilling rig, with Itaqui playing a key role in facilitating its transportation. The shipment included 25 units of large-scale general cargo and 12 containers.
The rig is set to boost ENEVA’s natural gas production. “Itaqui received the vessel BBC Philippines, bringing ENEVA’s project cargo for natural gas production. This operation highlights our versatility and flexibility in handling various types of cargo, contributing to the state’s development,” explained Adauto Serpa, Itaqui’s Operations Manager.
The equipment arrived from Germany on Wednesday, March 18. After leaving Itaqui, the rig will be transported to an external area before being moved to the Parnaíba Complex in the Médio Mearim region, where it will be assembled for gas well drilling operations.
The rig’s arrival underscores the Port of Itaqui’s critical role in providing advanced infrastructure, logistical efficiency, and connectivity for large-scale operations. “The partnership between ENEVA and the port has been ongoing for years, starting with coal operations. This is another project that strengthens this relationship. Itaqui’s strategic location and operational capacity make it a key hub for handling industrial and energy-related cargo in Brazil. In May, the third shipment for the rig will arrive,” emphasized João Cavalca, ENEVA’s Logistics Coordinator.
About the Rig
Weighing 1,300 tons, the rig integrates technology and innovation from Germany, China, and the United Arab Emirates. A key differentiator is its sustainability commitment, which utilizes up to 70% gas for power generation, reduces emissions, and ensures a cleaner and more efficient operation.
