Port of Paranaguá receives another load of imported corn

This week, another ship docked at the Port of Paranaguá to unload 32,000 tons of corn imported from Argentina. This is the fourth vessel full of corn that has arrived at the Paraná terminal this year. Since January, 102,719 tons of Argentine corn have been unloaded
This vessel is the Ocean Royal. The responsible company is Fortesolo, which also handled the Aurora SB in May (35,319 tons); Sirius Sky in June (36,870 tons); and Interlink Nobility, earlier this month (30,530 tons).
The berths used for unloading corn are also used for other bulk imports such as salt, fertilizers, wheat, malt, and barley.
The poor performance of the corn crop due to adverse weather conditions in Paraná and other producing states increased the demand for imports. The product will be used for animal feed.
The chart below shows a comparison of Brazilian corn imports vs. exports since 2019. Data are from DataLiner:

The unloading should take about five days. Part of the product goes directly to cooperatives and part will be stored in Paranaguá.
The decrease in the Brazilian corn harvest, which affected off-season corn production, increased expectations of record imports.
