On Nov 28, the Port of Recife concluded an unprecedented operation of shipping ethyl alcohol with the tanker Vari Trader. In a spot operation, approximately 4 thousand tonnes of alcohol were exported to Ghana, Africa.
“This unparalleled activity results from our management’s efforts, which have prioritized attracting new business. If everything goes well, and the port is working toward it, we will open a new movement front in Recife, generating more income and development for the State,” says Tito Moraes, president of the Port of Recife.
Eight trucks refueled the vessel while it was docked. In total, 22 trucks traveled between Recife and Vitória de Santo Antao to deliver the alcohol, which was piped directly from the trucks to the ship’s tanks. In addition, a small laboratory was set up in yard two of the Port of Recife to ensure the quality of the product, analyzing the purity of the alcohol shipped.
In addition to all this structure, the operation also had a 24-hour environmental watch. A company was contracted to monitor all shipments and prevent ecological accidents.
The JB Group produced the hydrated ethyl alcohol that will be exported. The company owns an alcohol-chemical plant in Vitória de Santo Antão, which manufactures and sells chemicals in general, alcohol, and generates electric energy. The company has been in the market for 60 years and operates in CO2 and thermoelectric power production.
