The completion of the dredging work would not only strengthen port infrastructure but also boost the local and national economy. With the new draft, the Port of Rio de Janeiro will be able to serve the impressive New Panamax ships, measuring 366 meters in length and with a capacity of around 15,000 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit).
The dredger Galileo Galilei plays a central role in this endeavor, moving tons of sediment and debris to deepen the channel. In close collaboration with PortosRio, the dredger operates tirelessly to shape the future of the port and the city.
With the dredging work and the new draft, the Port of Rio de Janeiro stands out as one of the most important ports in Brazil and the world, ready to receive large vessels. The project is expected to be completed by August 2024.
