Port of Salvador to concentrate screening at yard 24 km away
Jan, 30, 2023 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202305
Port of Salvador’s next external screening yard has gained a new possible location. Sulog, one of the companies that made it to the final stages of public call 001/2022, has a pre-defined area in mind, which will be leased as soon as the operation is approved by the Codeba port authority – something expected to happen in the next ten days, according to sources familiar with the subject.
The expectation is for ten months of work for what the company’s interlocutors privately refer to as a “shopping for truckers” at kilometer (km) 10 of the BR-324 road, 24 km from the Port of Salvador. The company estimated a price of R$ 60 per vehicle. Sulog’s concept is to create a space that will serve all cargo carriers heading to the port, not just container carriers (which are the vast majority).
