
Port of Salvador Welcomes Bulgarian Polar Research Vessel for First Time

The Port of Salvador has received the Bulgarian Polar Research Vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii – RSV 421 for the first time. The ship, dedicated to scientific research in icy waters, docked in Bahia, strengthening ties between Brazil and Bulgaria. The vessel arrived from Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, after a season in Antarctica and will sail directly to Europe.
To welcome the crew, a reception lunch was held on board this Tuesday (11). The event was attended by the ship’s captain, Commander Radko Muevski; Bulgaria’s ambassador to Brazil, Bojidara Nikolova Sartchadjieva; the country’s consul in Minas Gerais, Renato Russeff; Captain of the Port, Alexandre de Souza Gomes; the CEO of Bahia’s Port Authority (CODEBA), Antonio Gobbo; the director of the Bahia Commercial Association (ACB), Zilan Costa e Silva; and members of the crew. Discussions centered on technological cooperation and trade routes between Brazil and Bulgaria.
The 67-meter-long vessel features double cabins and has the capacity to accommodate 60 people, including 40 scientists and 20 crew members.
