A drug trafficking scheme was stopped in the Port of Salvador Saturday night when three service-provider workers were caught trying to put cocaine into a container destined for Europe. About 165 kg of the drug were confiscated.
According to the police, employees of the Port of Salvador/BA (Tecon Salvador) container terminal called the agency after suspecting a strange movement of three men, dressed in uniforms from companies that provide services at the site. The employees said there was no reason to justify their presence at the site. The men were caught with backpacks and making repeated trips between the point where cars were parked and a container.
APF found that the men really were employees of companies that provide services in the Port of Salvador. They were caught with 165 kg of cocaine, part of which was already inside a container that would be shipped to Europe and the rest still inside the employees’ cars.
The situation of the men was not detailed, nor if they are still imprisoned.
