Port of Santos Receives Feasibility Study for Export Processing Zone

On Monday, April 1st, the Santos Port Authority (APS) welcomed Jorge Bastos, President of Infra SA, Mariana Pescatori, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, and Bruno Orlandi, Secretary of Port Affairs and Employment of the city of Santos, for the delivery of a feasibility study for an Export Processing Zone (EPZ). APS President Anderson Pomini welcomed the three executives to the port’s dependencies.
Pomini emphasized the importance of this study: “All of the world’s leading ports have their EPZs, which drive their development and that of their countries alike, and the same must happen in Santos,” said Pomini, who congratulated Infra SA for the presented study.

Representing the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, Secretary Mariana Pescatori also commented on the international significance of an EPZ: “China and other countries have developed their export zones and are reaping the benefits, and Santos, the most important port in Latin America, cannot miss having its Export Processing Zone as well,” stated the Secretary.
Jorge Bastos, President of Infra SA, congratulated Santos for its willingness to implement an EPZ and the company’s participation in this initiative: “President Lula is a supporter of port development, and Infra SA is proud to deliver this feasibility study, demonstrating the strength of the Port of Santos for Brazil.”
Lastly, representing the Mayor of Santos, Rogério Santos, Bruno Orlandi noted that this study is a step toward bringing progress to the continental area of the city: “The City Hall has been working to develop such a business complex in Santos, and this study we received today demonstrates that it is possible to ensure more investments and jobs for the region,” said Orlandi.
The feasibility study for the EPZ delivered to the municipality of Santos on Monday was conducted by Infra SA after discussions between APS, the Santos City Hall, and the Ministry of Ports and Airports.
