Navigation in the Port of Santos estuary resumed on Thursday afternoon (13) after being suspended at 9 am due to the weather. According to the Port Authority of Santos (APS), the five vessels that were docked left the port around 3 pm. The service was halted after the wind made it impossible to sail safely.
The APS also said that ships trying to berth at the port will have the opportunity to do so after 6 pm. According to the Civil Defense of Guarujá, the winds reached 83.8 km/h at 3:25 am on Thursday (13), when they were at their strongest in the city.
Ferry Services
The windstorm caused by the cyclone also disrupted the operation of ferry services on the coast of São Paulo during the early hours of the morning. The Waterway Department (DH) said that the Guarujá/Bertioga service has been suspended since 5:47 am. The others are operating normally.
Cyclone Passage
The Brazilian Navy and the São Paulo Civil Defense issued an alert for strong winds in Brazil’s South and Southeast regions. The extratropical cyclone is expected to cause winds of up to 100 km/h in the region. According to the Navy, the waves can reach 4.5 m in height.
