In November, approximately 1.5 million tonnes passed through the Port of São Francisco do Sul. With this result, the port in northern Santa Catarina reached the milestone of 15.3 million tonnes handled in the first 11 months of the year, marking a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2022, when 11.7 million tonnes of goods were shipped and unloaded.

Exports, totaling 866,000 tonnes, continue to be the primary operation seen at the port, representing 58% of the total movement. Corn takes the lead with 671,000 tonnes, accounting for 8% of all Brazilian corn exports in November (8.3 million tonnes). Other products sent abroad through the Port of São Francisco include soybeans (140,000 tonnes) and soybean oil (32,000 tonnes). Imports totaled 634,000 tonnes (42%), driven by fertilizers (319,000 tonnes) and metallurgical products (264,000 tonnes).

One of the reasons for the consistent growth of Santa Catarina’s largest port in 2023 is the new clients from various states in the South and Midwest of the country, such as Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, and Goiás. “The efficiency and infrastructure offered by the Port of São Francisco do Sul have created a solid relationship of trust with the market, eager for meeting deadlines and competitive tariffs,” evaluates the port’s president, Cleverton Vieira.

General data about the Port of São Francisco:

– Largest cargo-handling port in Santa Catarina
– 3rd best-performing port in Brazil in 2023
– 5th place in the environmental ranking among the 35 public ports in Brazil
