Lawyer Cleverton Elias Vieira was appointed by the governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello, to be the new president of the Port of São Francisco do Sul.
The Board of Directors of Porto approved the appointment on Wednesday, the 25th.
Vieira, 44 years old, has been working in the port sector for ten years. He holds a Master’s degree in Law from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and completed a course for administrators of Public Companies and Mixed Economy Societies of Santa Catarina from Fundação Escola de Governo (ENA).
Lawyer at SC Participações e Parcerias S.A (SCPar) since 2008, he has already held the Port of Sao Francisco presidency between August 2021 and May 2022.
Previously, he held the position of Legal Director of the Port of Imbituba (2013-2016).
The new president stated that the priority would be to accelerate investments in land and waterway infrastructure, creating conditions that will increase cargo throughput. “By modernizing our port structure, we will be able to optimize the flow of grains from Santa Catarina as well as the reception of fertilizers and steel material, resulting in improvements for the entire production chain,” Vieira said.
Vessels
The construction of a new berth for ships is also in Cleverton Vieira’s sights. Expected to launch the lease tender in 2023, the 401 will be the eighth berth in the Port of Sao Francisco equipped to move different cargo types. At the same time, he intends to speed up the dredging work to widen the access channel to the Port, offering better operating conditions, with the possibility of receiving larger vessels.
More access points
To speed up the entry and exit of trucks in the port area, the Port of São Francisco will complete the implementation of the control systems requested by the Federal Revenue to open the new access points already built. The forecast is that the three new scales will be authorized to operate in the first half of this year. Today, with two scales, the Port has an average flow of 500 trucks per day, equivalent to 1,000 movements (including vehicle entry and exit). With five scales, it will be possible to serve up to 1,500 trucks daily, reaching 3,000 movements.
