The Port of São Francisco do Sul has completed the installation of a new access control system for the operational area, providing greater efficiency, security, and comfort for workers and visitors alike.
The cutting-edge system, which was installed this week, includes four metal detectors, four turnstile gates, and a baggage scanner similar to those found in airports. All backpacks and suitcases entering the operational area are required to pass through it, making it a vital tool for safeguarding the port’s operations and adhering to customs regulations.
In addition, four general area control cameras have been installed, allowing the Federal Revenue Service to monitor the area remotely. This represents a significant improvement from the previous two-camera setup and the absence of a scanner.
Governor Jorginho Mello praised the modernization of the port’s infrastructure, stating that it adds a competitive edge to the region’s shipping industry. He also emphasized the importance of investing in technology and security measures to ensure that the Port of São Francisco can become a national reference in port security.
Port President Cleverton Vieira expressed his pride in the project’s completion, stating that the work was completed in less than a month thanks to the dedication and technical expertise of the port’s team.
The system’s integration with access gates for trucks further enhances its functionality, allowing drivers with fingerprints scanned upon entering the port complex and entering and exiting the operational area on foot, using the same system when necessary.
On average, the turnstiles rotate 10,000 times daily, demonstrating the high volume of traffic the port handles daily.
With the new access control system in place, the Port of São Francisco do Sul is poised to become a beacon of safety and efficiency for the shipping industry in the region.
