Port of Vila Velha announces 7 million tonnes of cargo throughput

The Vila Velha port complex, which handles 93% of all cargo operations in Espírito Santo state maritime terminals, handled 7 million tonnes of cargo in 2022.
These operations amounted to approximately $1.30 billion (or 6.5 billion reais), primarily consisting of iron and ore shipments, as well as fuel and fertilizer imports.
This information, based on official data, was released by the Jones dos Santos Neves Institute (IJSN), which highlighted Vila Velha’s significant role in the Brazilian foreign trade. According to the institute’s studies, 77% of the exports were crude petroleum oils, with crude cast iron and coffee beans making up 9% and 8%, respectively.
In terms of imports, the Vila Velha port complex focused on communication equipment, machinery, electrical devices, synthetic filaments, fabrics, wines, synthetic fibers, milling machinery, inorganic chemicals, and dairy products, according to the IJSN.
Considered one of the most modern and competitive port complexes in Latin America, Vila Velha has five terminals that handle a wide range of cargoes, including food, steel products, iron ore, raw materials, electrical and electronic equipment, clothing, vehicles, solid bulk, and liquid materials.
