The Port of Vitória complex, operated by VPorts, handled 8.4 million tonnes of cargo in 2024, a 15% increase compared to 2023. This growth far outpaced the national average of approximately 2%. Additionally, VPorts and its partner companies invested R$580 million in infrastructure improvements. The company took over management of the port complex in 2022.
“We achieved significant growth thanks to our ability to forge strategic partnerships, enhance the port’s competitiveness, and swiftly respond to market demands through an agile and flexible management model. Over the past two years, we have signed 11 new contracts, compared to the previous average of one contract every four years,” said CEO Gustavo Ferrão.
Ferrão also highlighted tailored logistics solutions, such as breakbulk services for the coffee sector. “We attracted major investments that have boosted efficiency and productivity across our operations.”

VPorts reported a 30% increase in container throughput, with 228,000 containers handled in 2024. Significant cargo growth was also recorded across several key commodities. Coffee exports surged by 63%, reaching a 20-year record.
General cargo throughput rose 54% year-over-year, while block granite shipments increased 90% compared to 2023 and 187% versus 2022. Vehicle handling also saw a sharp rise of 109% compared to the previous year.
“We doubled our static capacity, and today, we have one of the shortest vessel wait times in Brazil, averaging just 1.4 days. We are fully prepared to expand, with available berths and operational areas,” Ferrão added.
VPorts also highlighted a new contract signed in September 2024, which enabled the port’s commercial quay to serve the offshore sector in Espírito Santo.
Furthermore, the company renovated port warehouses, incorporating historic preservation efforts. The refurbished structures will house a museum, educational center, community hub, restaurant, and other public spaces, fostering closer ties between the port and the local community.
