The number of vehicles disembarking at the Port of Vitória grows. In 2022, 64,514 cars were landed, 14,793 more than in the previous year, that is, a growth of 29%. In 2021, 49,721 units disembarked through the berths of Companhia Docas do Espírito Santo (Codesa).
The month of October 2022 was the busiest with 6,746 vehicles. The main origin was Argentina, with 27,192 cars, followed by China (8,258), Uruguay (7,280), Germany (6,667), Belgium (4,692), Mexico (4,094), United States (2,047), among others.
The cargo was operated by 158 vessels last year, against 132 moorings in 2021.
Innovativeness in operation
On the last day of 2022, more than 300 units of vehicles from various automakers landed in Porto Vitória through an unprecedented operation in Brazil. Vehicles were unloaded at the Log-in TVV terminal using flat rack and high cube containers.
The action took place on the last day of the year 2022. The innovative transport and handling model used more than 100 containers, in the 48-foot format, made to stack cars in the basements, as a crate.
Each equipment holds three vehicles. The ship was the Tian Shou, for project cargo and/or general cargo, owned by Cosco Shipping. According to Companhia Docas do Espírito Santo (Codesa), this is a special operation.
This is because it is common to transport cars on ships in the Roll-on Roll-off type – when vehicles and machines enter and leave the vessel by their own means (on their wheels). The operation was a direct transfer between the city of Taicang, in China, and Vitória, in Brazil, totaling 38 days of transit time.
