
Port terminal worker dies crushed by forklift in Manaus

Eliel B. Simões, 36, died on the afternoon of Monday, August 26, at Super Terminais, located on Ponta Grossa Street in the Colônia Oliveira Machado neighborhood in the southern zone of Manaus. The worker was crushed by a long-reach telescopic forklift.
According to local reports, Eliel was training a newly hired employee to operate containerized cargo when he was accidentally killed by his colleague. The trainee, who was performing a maneuver, did not see the instructor standing behind the port forklift, a Reach Stacker model.
The accident site was initially cordoned off by a police team from the 2nd Interactive Community Company (Cicom). After the forensic examination, the body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
