Porto Central project enters pre-construction aiming to engage local communities
Jun, 30, 2023 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202325
On Monday, July 3rd, a new series of preparatory meetings will commence at Porto Central, with the aim to provide a platform for the communities in the Direct Influence Area (AID) and Indirect Influence Area (AII) where the port will be established. These meetings will culminate in a General Public Meeting scheduled for July 20th at 6 pm in Presidente Kennedy, Espírito Santo.
A total of 11 preparatory meetings will take place to provide detailed information about the port project, focusing on the changes in Phase 1 before construction. These meetings also aim to foster clarity and engagement and facilitate meaningful discussions with the local community.
In 2023, Phase 1 will commence, involving the construction of the first four berths out of 70 in total. The Porto Central MasterPlan, which has already obtained a Preliminary License, involves an area of approximately 2,000 hectares. However, the construction will be divided into phases, effectively reducing the peak labor demand during the initial phase.
It is important to highlight that employment opportunities will primarily be offered to local residents in the AID and AII areas. Furthermore, companies will be required to employ most of their workforce from the region while also prioritizing local suppliers.
All meetings are open to the public, free of charge, and participation is voluntary. Transportation will be provided for residents of the municipalities where the meetings will be held, especially for those who face difficulties reaching the event location.
