The integration of systems into Portos RS’s IT network has been completed, marking the next phase in modernizing access points and aligning with international ISPS Code and Customs Clearance standards. This phase precedes the final handover and the official start of operations.
Training sessions will be held throughout the month to familiarize users, such as port operators and transporters, with the system’s new functionalities and procedures. These sessions will focus on vehicle and driver registration, scheduling, and weighing operations.
A pilot operation began on the afternoon of Monday, the 7th, during which the entire barley unloading process from the vessel Apogee Spirit involved trucks entering and exiting through the new gate. This initiative allows for testing and fine-tuning any inconsistencies.
To assist in the training process, Portos RS’s Information Technology Management (GTI) has prepared support materials to help users understand how the new system works. Once fully operational, the technologies will enhance access control and expedite port operations.
Since early 2023, upgrades have been underway across all port buildings and storage units. The investment also includes expanding the video monitoring system and restructuring the Port Guard’s Control and Communications Center (CCCom).
With a budget of just over R$ 46 million, the modernization of port facilities has been a long-standing goal, originally planned under the former Superintendence and now being realized under Portos RS. This investment in cutting-edge resources will significantly improve security measures and streamline access control.
