Porto Itapoá grows 11.3% and plans R$1.5 billion expansion

Porto Itapoá registered an increase of 41.3% in imports in the first half. There were almost 70,000 containers against 48,000 in the same period last year.
Exports had a lower weight but still were 8.5% higher than the same period last year: almost 50,000 containers against 45,000 last year.
In cabotage cargoes, there was a growth of 9.7%. There were more than 15,000 containers in this first semester against just over 13,000 handled in this period last year.
Considering the total movement, the port saw an increase of 11.3%: there were 238,000 containers against 214,000, in comparison.

With this growing demand, Porto Itapoá is already planning the new expansion stage, which is budgeted at R$ 1.5 billion and is expected to be completed within 5 years.
As a result, the annual handling capacity of up to 1.2 million TEU will surpass the mark of 2 million TEU per year.
