In April 2024, Porto Itapoá set several records in its operation. Overall movement reached 107,475 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), surpassing the Terminal’s previous record of 106,565 TEUs, achieved in October 2023.
According to Felipe Fioravanti Kaufmann, Director of Business Development and Customer Experience at Porto Itapoá, these numbers confirm the growing importance of the Terminal as a logistics option for the market. “We were the private terminal that grew the most in the country for two consecutive years and today we account for a market share of about 8.5%,” he analyzes.
“In 2023, we achieved several important milestones, such as surpassing the milestone of 1 million TEUs moved in a single year. However, it is important to remember that it was a very challenging year for the entire segment, and Porto Itapoá consolidated its position as a regional port reference, having prepared for it through heavy investments in its infrastructure,” Kaufmann emphasizes.
April also saw important numbers in dry imports, reaching 35,692 TEUs, second only to January of this year when 36,951 TEUs were moved, while dry exports were 17,317 TEUs, only lower than December last year when the Terminal moved over 18,891 TEUs.

Reefer
Porto Itapoá also recorded a record of 12,460 TEUs in reefer export, surpassing the 10,839 TEUs of December 2023. The number is an important indicator for the regional economy and reinforces the excellent operational conditions offered by the Terminal to this important productive chain, according to Kaufmann.
“Santa Catarina and Paraná are major exporters of frozen and refrigerated cargoes, especially animal protein,” explains the director.
