Exports of products through the Porto Murtinho port terminal in Mato Grosso do Sul state should break a record this year, exceeding 700,000 tonnes, mainly driven by soybean trade.
The information is from the State Secretariat for the Environment, Development, Science, Innovation and Technology (Semadesc).
Soybean exports via the local waterway with Porto Murtinho as the final destination reached 122,400 tonnes in the first two months of the year. “In addition, the equivalent of 675 thousand tonnes has already been negotiated until the end of the year,” says Semadesc, noting that Porto Murtinho handled more than 300 thousand tonnes of soy and sugar last year.
Grupo FV’s Port Terminal currently carries out cargo handling operations, which opened in 2020, focusing on the waterway as a grain flow strategy. The terminal’s land covers 50 hectares, with 26 hectares of functional area and 500 meters facing the Paraguay River, says Semadesc.
For the transshipment of soy, corn, and sugar, as well as the importation of fertilizers, the shipment capacity is 1,000 tonnes per hour. Its structure is capable of transporting up to 2 million tons of grain per year.
