Portonave recorded 638,476 TEUs throughput by the end of the first half of the year. According to the latest data from the National Agency of Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ), released in May, Portonave recorded the highest average ship productivity both for the company and across all Brazilian ports, with an average of 116.5 Moves per Hour (MPH), representing an increase of approximately 40% compared to the same period last year.
In addition to this impressive performance, with 266 ship calls this year, the company is making ongoing investments. To accommodate larger vessels, up to 400 meters in length, handle more containers, and increase efficiency, the company began construction on a new quay in January, a private investment of R$ 1 billion. Currently, new foundation work is underway on the east side of the quay, where the project’s first phase is being executed. The construction is divided into two phases to maintain operations. Once phase one is complete, work will proceed on the west side (phase two).
In terms of market share, Portonave leads in Santa Catarina, handling 50% of the state’s full container movement, according to June data released by Datamar, a consultancy specializing in maritime logistics. The main export products were wood and its derivatives (41%), frozen meats and derivatives (36%), and paper (8%). On the import side, Portonave received plastics and derivatives (18%), machinery (11%), and textiles (11%). The top import countries were China, the United States, and India, while the largest export destinations were China, the United States, and Mexico.
The chart below compares container exports registered at the Port of Navegantes in the first six months of the year form 2021 to 2024. The information was derived from DataLiner, a service by Datamar.

Growth in Frozen Meat Operations at the Iceport Cold Storage Facility
Iceport, Portonave’s fully automated cold storage facility, handled 110,000 tons of food from January to June, marking an 8% increase compared to last year. Of these, 61% were poultry and pork, 29% were vegetables, and 10% were beef. The handling of poultry and pork rose by 17%, primarily due to the state’s high production levels.
Santa Catarina is the national leader in pork production, with a 29% market share, and ranks second in poultry production, with a 13% market share, according to the Animal Slaughter Survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), conducted in the first quarter. The facility also saw a 10% increase in beef handling. For 15 years, Iceport has been providing logistics services in storage operations and reefer container depot services for temperature-controlled cargo.
