Portonave breaks 11 million TEU throughput record

The Port of Navegantes, also known as Portonave, recorded an 11 million TEU throughput. The recently-broken record was obtained in the operation of the Lebanese-flagged MSC Barcelona on Thursday, Dec 8. In total, the port saw the movement of 1,200 containers.
More than 8,800 ship calls with various cargoes, such as wood, frozen meat, machinery, ceramics, food, plastics, and textile materials, occurred at the port to secure this mark.

15 years of achievements
This year, Portonave broke historical throughput records. In September, the Gate had a flow of 2,600 trucks in a single day. In October, monthly throughput reached 111,879 TEU.
For December, the terminal expects to exceed the 1,152,999 TEU handled in 2021, which was the highest in history. Approximately 1,105,188 TEU had been recorded by November.
Sustainable growth
Portonave recently acquired an ecological reach stacker to increase productivity and promote sustainable initiatives. The equipment reduces the emission of polluting gases by 40%. It was the first of its kind to be acquired in Latin America.
In addition, the terminal also has 5 Empty Container Forklifts, 2 HCVM-T Scanners, 6 Portainers Post Panamax, 40 Terminal Tractors, and 18 Electrified RTG.
