Portonave recorded a 5% decline in container handling between January and November 2024, totaling 1,261,130 TEUs moved. According to the terminal, this reduction was attributed to construction works on the quay, which impacted operations.

Despite the decrease, Portonave maintained a 12% national market share in container handling, ranking third nationwide. Regarding productivity, the terminal stood out with an average of 118 moves per hour (MPH), the highest in Brazil, representing a 42% increase compared to 2023.

The main products handled for exports were wood, frozen meat, and paper. Highlights on the import side included plastics, machinery, and textiles. China was the top destination for exports and the primary origin for imports, followed by the United States and Mexico for exports and the United States and India for imports.

Notable Segments

For imports, the standout product was tires, with 30,000 TEUs handled, representing 33% of Brazil’s total tire imports, again with China as the primary origin.
