Portonave has released its 2023 Sustainability Report, outlining key achievements and advancements in its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. The report, published on May 29, focuses on three main pillars: Smart Solutions, People on Board, and Lasting Legacy, which guide the company’s initiatives.
The Portonave Institute, a non-profit organization responsible for the terminal’s socio-environmental actions, has realigned its strategic approach to the UN’s 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The institute’s activities are now structured around Socioeconomic Inclusion, Education & Culture, and Community Engagement, with an emphasis on reducing social inequalities.
In 2023, Portonave’s social initiatives reached 172,000 people, with an investment of approximately R$ 6 million. A standout program was the second edition of “Porto para Elas,” which is exclusively for Black women. The program aims to provide training and job opportunities in the port sector, promoting gender equity. To date, 70 women have completed the program, with 11 securing employment at the terminal.
Operationally, the Port Terminal handled 1,327,098 TEUs in 2023, marking a 10% increase from the previous year. Additionally, the terminal’s cold storage facility, Iceport, achieved the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000), underscoring its commitment to food safety standards.
Portonave also made significant contributions to the local economy, remitting R$ 30 million in Service Tax (ISS) to the municipality of Navegantes. This amount represents 40% of the total ISS revenue collected by the city in 2023.
Since 2009, Portonave has adhered to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines for its annual sustainability reports. The 2023 Sustainability Report is organized into six chapters: Corporate Profile, Integrity Management, Operations and Performance, Our Team, Social Impact, and Environmental Management.
