On Tuesday (15), public port operator Portos do Paraná held Public Hearing No. 001/2024 to gather feedback and suggestions for refining the legal and technical drafts for the PAR25 lease auction. The session allowed for both in-person and remote participation. The area up for lease is designated for storing and handling solid vegetable goods in bulk.
Since gaining Delegated Authority in January 2019, Portos do Paraná has successfully conducted five lease auctions. “We’re ready to sign another significant contract, with R$ 500 million in investments for this project. It’s both a challenge and a major opportunity for potential bidders,” said Portos do Paraná’s CEO, Luiz Fernando Garcia.
According to Marcos Bonoski, President of the Port Areas Auction Commission (CLAP) and Chief Financial Officer of Portos do Paraná, the public hearing is an essential step in enhancing the Technical, Economic, and Environmental Feasibility Study (EVTEA). This process defines the lease’s financial terms, timelines, and other critical parameters. “We aim to secure appropriate remuneration for Portos do Paraná while ensuring a strong return for investors,” Bonoski emphasized.
Patrícia Gravina, Program Director at the Economic Infrastructure Secretariat for the Partnerships and Investments Program (PPI), praised Portos do Paraná’s oversight of past auctions and noted that the PAR25 area (currently occupied by Louis Dreyfus and Interalli) will further bolster the Export Corridor. “These hearings are crucial for clearing up uncertainties and attracting investments to the Port of Paranaguá,” Gravina said.
Thiago Fernando Bonetti, Regional Director at the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq), highlighted the port authority’s national leadership. “The Delegated Authority has granted Portos do Paraná a level of autonomy that distinguishes it from other port authorities in Brazil. After several successful auctions, the company has achieved unquestionable maturity in these processes,” Bonetti stated.
Fernando Correa dos Santos, Project Superintendent at INFRA S/A, noted that the PAR25 project is another milestone for the Port of Paranaguá. “Together with PAR14 and PAR15, this project aims to revitalize the Paranaguá Export Corridor, focusing on operational improvements,” Santos explained.
