Portos do Paraná invested nearly R$ 162.6 million in refurbishing projects that were highly anticipated by the port community in 2021. In addition to the dredging, which is almost 75% complete, other projects focused on improving maritime, land, and access infrastructure.
“We have dredged 12% of the highest points of Pedra da Palangana. We have initiated this process in September and we are going to finish it at the beginning of 2022”, says the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia. The investment was almost R$ 26 million, funded by the public company’s own resources.
Among projects aimed at improving maritime infrastructure, maintenance dredging is a highlight, receiving an investment of BRL 32.13 million, as well as the construction of the mooring structure of berth 219, which is used for rolling cargo ships – Ro-Ro/PCC (R$28.2 million, 45% completed).
On the pier, the drainage effort, which received a total investment of R$ 17.4 million, was carried out in five lots. The work included the adaptation and recovery of the rainwater drainage system by installing organic matter retention mechanisms and minimizing the load dumped in the galleries of the Port of Paranaguá.
“We also made progress in the renovation and construction of new warehouses”, highlights Garcia. Construction work began with two structures on Ilha dos Valadares, in Paranaguá (one in the sea and the other near the walkway), and two others in Antonina (in Ponta da Pita and in Portinho), in addition to the Rocio pier, which is already under renovation. The value of this contract is R$17.17 million”.
“We started the demolition of the vertical silo, a prime area of more than 2 thousand square meters that will make room for the expansion of the port’s operational capacity”, highlights the Engineering and Maintenance Director, André Cassanti Neto. The investment in the work was R$ 3.47 million.
As of now, the projects that were concluded are the improvement of the nautic signaling at the maritime acesses (R$2.8 million) and the renewal of the structure of the Public Flammable Pier at the Port of Paranaguá, with an investment of R$28.25 million, now 40% complete.
Expectation – Among the most anticipated projects for the coming years is the East Wharf, known as the Moegão, which has a contract term scheduled to begin in the first months of 2022. This requires a public investment of around R$ 500 million in the construction of an exclusive hopper for the rail modal. The idea is to meet the transportation demands of all 11 terminals that operate in the East Export Corridor at a single point by providing aerial connections (conveyor belts).
Moreover, other Portos do Paraná projects are planned, such as the demolition of warehouses AZ10, 12,12A,13 and 13A; hiring warehouses from the communities of Piaçaguera, Vila Maciel, Amparo, Eufrasina, Europinha and Teixeira; the execution of the dolfin of the Flammable Pier; in addition to conducting the technical feasibility study for lifting flammable ducts; among other improvements.
