Portos do Paraná presents project to revitalize Barão do Teffé port in Antonina

Portos do Paraná held a public hearing on Wednesday (12) at the Barão do Teffé public port in Antonina to initiate the process of leasing a non-operational area located within the terminal. The plan is to attract tourists with a marina on the site. The proposal is based on studies by Invest Paraná, which highlighted the touristic and nautical potential of the site. The idea is to lease the area for 20 years after a competitive bidding process.
The 250,000-square-meter area, called ANOP 01, is not used for cargo transportation and is currently idle. Port activities at the Antonina public terminal were shut down in 2008 due to navigability limitations. This closure had a significant impact on the local economy, and as a result, the surroundings of Barão de Teffé have no relevant commercial activity. Port activities were once the city’s main economic driver, and although they are still important, they currently only take place in the privately-leased Ponta do Félix Port.
The area where the project is set to be developed is a gateway to important tourist attractions in the city, such as Ponta da Pita and the recently opened Trapiche, built by Portos do Paraná. Leasing this area will represent an excellent opportunity for attracting new investments and revitalizing this area.
The marina can accommodate different size vessels, with dry and wet berths. In addition to having space for various types of boats, the project includes a parking area, transport and maintenance equipment, a nautical fuel station, a team of specialized professionals, and a convenience store, among others. Leisure, culture, sports, commerce, services, and nautical industry activities, among others, could also be developed there to promote integration between port and city.
The mayor of Antonina, José Paulo Vieira Azim, said that revitalizing the area is extremely important for the city. “This project could provide our community with a new source of development and income, in line with what we want for the city,” he said. “Seeing our Barão do Teffé reactivated, with a beautiful tourist complex that serves our visitors and residents, would lift the spirits and souls of the people of Antonia.”
