Ports in Pelotas and Porto Alegre receive award for best environmental efforts

The Pelotas and Porto Alegre units of Portos RS received their ANTAQ 2023 Awards certificates this week, which recognize environmental achievements. The port in Pelotas ranked fourth in the category of Greatest Improvement in Environmental Performance Index (EPI), while the public port in Porto Alegre took first place in the same category and fourth in the Innovative Initiatives category.

In Pelotas, the award was presented by the Port Authority’s environmental director, Henrique Ilha, to operational manager Antônio Ozorio Garcia Campos. On this occasion, the unit manager highlighted that this recognition is the result of the team’s collective effort.

“There is a commitment from this group, especially regarding issues related to environmental management, promoting safety, and having concern not only for the environment but also for public assets, people, and the employees here,” emphasized Ozorio.

In Porto Alegre, the award was presented by Portos RS’s environmental manager, Mara Nubia Oliveira, and the manager of health and safety at work, Leandro Barbosa, to the operational manager of the unit, Matheus Evangelho, and the coordinator of the Environmental Management Program (PGA), Tatiana Silva.

According to the environmental director, Henrique Ilha, “These nationally recognized achievements reflect the quality of the collective work at Portos RS, involving all its directorates and management, supporting the continuous growth of the sustainability agenda and the commitment to maintaining all units at the highest possible standard.”
