Other leading buyers were the Philipines at 188,700 tonnes, up 42.2%, the European Union at 182,400, up 27.1%, South Korea at 139,200 tonnes, up 61.3%, and Mexico at 117,400 tonnes, up 22.8%.

“As international prices soared over the year, the revenue from Brazilian sales was higher compared to the first nine months of 2021. Ten out of the fifteen leading markets saw a significant increase in volume, thus strengthening Brazil’s position as the leading global exporter and a major mainstay in a moment of global concern with food security,” said Luís Rua, Market director of ABPA.
In September alone, poultry exports from Brazil reached USD 830.1 million, up 13.6% from a year ago. The volume shipped, however, was 400,000 tonnes, down 4.4% year on year. “Since March, the industry has maintained an export average over 400,000 tonnes a month. The steady global demand for the Brazil product is reflected in the average monthly prices, which are 19% higher than in 2021,” ABPA chair Ricardo Santin was quoted as saying in a statement.
