According to data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Brazilian poultry exports (including all products, both fresh and processed) surged by 15.4% in October. Total shipments reached 463,500 tonnes that month, up from 401,700 tonnes during the same period last year.

Revenue growth was even more notable, climbing 25% year-over-year to $904.4 million in October 2024, compared to $723.5 million in October 2023.

Year-to-date (January to October), chicken meat exports saw a 2% increase, totaling 4.38 million tonnes in 2024, compared to 4.29 million tonnes in 2023. Accumulated revenue for this period reached $8.177 billion, a slight 1.5% decline from the previous year’s $8.301 billion.

By destination, China (the leading importer) recorded a 30.4% increase in October, importing 53,500 tonnes. Following China were Japan, with 39,900 tonnes (+19.2%); Mexico, with 35,000 tonnes (+21.6%); the United Arab Emirates, with 31,000 tonnes (-11.7%); and the Philippines, with 24,600 tonnes (+73.9%).

“October showed remarkable growth across several strategic markets that demand higher-value products, such as China, Japan, and the European Union, all with double-digit gains this month. Part of the sharp revenue increase reflects this trend. Global markets are also under pressure from Avian Influenza concerns, and since Brazilian production is free from the disease, Brazilian poultry exporters continue to see high demand,” said ABPA President Ricardo Santin.

Paraná remains Brazil’s top chicken-exporting state, with exports reaching 190,000 tonnes in October (+14.3% YoY), followed by Santa Catarina at 105,500 tonnes (+27.1%), Rio Grande do Sul at 56,000 tonnes (-2.8%), São Paulo at 28,700 tonnes (+13%), and Goiás at 18,900 tonnes (+6%).
