The Council of the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) published in the Brazilian Federal Gazette on Thursday, January 20, the qualification of the underwater tunnel connecting Santos (SP) and Guarujá (SP) construction studies.
According to the program, the studies will be completed in the first quarter of the year, and the auction to determine who will build and operate the project is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The decision to include the venture in the PPI was made at a meeting of the ministerial council in December of last year. The resolution, which was published today, was signed by the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, and Martha Seillier, the PPI’s special secretary.
The Santos-Guarujá tunnel, designed for the polygonal area of the Port of Santos, competes with the São Paulo State government’s proposal to build a bridge over the navigation channel, connecting the Insular (urban) and Continental areas of Santos.
