On Friday (4/8), the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, announced the opening of the Singapore market for processed pork meat from Brazil.
According to the president of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), Ricardo Santin, the opportunity generated from the negotiations concluded by the Brazilian government should provide a significant increase in pork exports from Brazil. “Singapore is a country with high levels of pork consumption per capita. There is a notable demand for higher value-added products, which should generate direct results in export revenues to the destination”, he assesses.
Singapore, a city-state located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, has a total population of 5.6 million inhabitants and one of the highest annual per capita incomes on the planet, with US$ 82,800, according to data from the Bank World.
Currently, Singapore already imports fresh pork from Brazil and has increased demand for the Brazilian product. It is the fifth main destination for exports, with 34.7 thousand tons imported in the first half of this year, a number 9.2% higher than the shipments registered in 2022. Shipments to the Asian country generated US$ 91.7 million in the period.
