The São Mateus Port Center (CPSM in Portuguese), which includes the construction of a Private Use Terminal (TUP) in Urussuquara and the Petrocity Thermal Power Plant, will be the subject of a public hearing scheduled for Friday, April 28th at 6:30 pm at the venue Espaço Guriri Parador Internacional, located in São Mateus, the city where the project is being developed. The event is promoted by the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama).
During the public hearing, the project’s Environmental Impact Report (Rima) will be presented to the population affected by the construction. The aim is to clarify doubts and receive suggestions from those living in the area. The Ibama will continue to receive recommendations and questions for 30 days after the event.
Ibama will consider the opinions expressed by society in the analysis of the environmental studies, which will guide the organization’s position on the project’s development.
About the project
Petrocity Porto is responsible for the project, which will house a private port terminal for general cargo and containers, expected to handle 23 million tons per year, as well as a thermal power plant. According to Petrocity’s website, after the completion of the hearing process, the expectation is that the preliminary license (LP) will be issued in the next 60 days so that the company can move forward with the necessary studies and assessments required by Ibama. The executives expect the installation license (LI) to be granted by mid-2024.
In addition to the port, the company plans to build railway lines connecting the north of Espírito Santo to the Midwest region of the country in the future.
