See below the ranking of the most exported commodities shipped in containers from Brazil and the Plate region in the first four months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. The data below was collected through Datamar’s Business Intelligence team.

Brazil

Meat exports rank at the top of the list in the first four months of 2023, with 196,397 TEUs, a volume 2.6% higher compared to the same period last year. Wood exports, the second commodity in the ranking, dropped by 19.5% over the same period. See the full ranking below:

The ranking of Brazilian containerized imports is spearheaded by plastic imports in the first four months of 2023, with 103,701 TEUs, a volume 25.7% higher than last year. Imports of products in the Reactors, Boilers, and Machinery category, second in the ranking, grew 5.1% in the same comparison. See the other goods below:

Argentina

In Argentina, the top position in exports belongs to vegetable products, with 27,363 TEUs, a volume 5.6% higher than in the same period of 2022. The second category of the ranking, Meat, had an increase of 13.7% in shipments in the same comparison. See below:

As for containerized imports, Argentina purchased goods in the Reactors, Boilers, and Machines category the most, reaching over 25,797 TEUs, a volume 2.2% lower than its 2022 counterpart. Imports of Motor Vehicles and Parts were 6.1% smaller over the same period. See the ranking below:

Paraguay and Uruguay

Regarding the other countries in the Plate region, Paraguay and Uruguay, the export of wood ranks the highest among all commodity exports via containers from January to April 2023, with 13,671 TEUs, a drop of 18.9% compared to the same months of 2022. Meat, occupying the second-higher position, experienced a decline of 20.1% in shipments. See below:

Regarding imports, Motor Vehicles and Parts lead the ranking for the first four months of the year, with 11,765 TEUs, a decrease of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2022, Reactors, Boilers and Machines, second category in the ranking, fell 6.1%. See below:
