Record volumes of conilon coffee exported via Vitória port
Aug, 31, 2020 Posted by datamarnewsWeek 202036
Exports of conilon coffee via Vitória port broke a historical record in June, with more than 715,000 bags shipped in a single month. The volume exported more than doubled in relation to the same period last year, rising by 59.24% year-on-year. This data is from Codesa’s Monthly Movement Report.
According to Codesa, this is the result of a good harvest, but also due to an improvement in port logistics. With the new drafts being approved – after the testing maneuvers were carried out – the volume of cargo loaded on vessels increased. This year, Espírito Santo ports had a 13% share in exports of Brazil´s conilon coffee. Of this amount, the Port of Vitória accounted for almost 60%.
Test maneuvers of new draft
On August 28, the sixth exit test maneuver was successfully carried out at Vitória port, with unberthing done without turning, at berth 203 of the Vila Velha Terminal (TVV). The operation was carried out using container vessel Login Resiliente. This vessel is 211m long and 33 m wide. The draft forecast (bow and stern) was 11.9 m. The tugboats Procyon, by Wilson Sons, and Topázio e Turmalina, by Camorim, participated in the unberthing support operation.
This was the second exit maneuver with a draft of between 11.5m and 12m at the Port of Vitória. The first one took place on July 26. The operation is part of the testing process for the new draft of the access channel to the Port of Vitória, after passing the experimental phase of exit maneuvers performed at a draft of between 10.67-11.50m.
The test maneuvers were recommended by the Navy at the end of April this year, after the release of the new depths along 8km of the channel, the turning basin, and the post-dredged berths. Testing began in May.
