Revenue from beef exports reached $1 billion in July

Exports of beef (fresh and processed) reached 192,500 tons and generated US$ 1 billion in revenue in July, according to data from SECEX (the foreign trade secretariat) compiled by ABRAFRIGO (the Brazilian association of meat producers). Compared to the same month in 2020, the volume dropped 1%, but revenue was 30% higher. The value of shipments broke a monthly record.
According to ABRAFRIGO, exports from January to June totaled 1.1 million tons, or US$ 5.1 billion. Also in this comparison, the exported volume dropped 3%, but the revenue was 9% higher.
Top destinations
In the year to date, China (including sales through Hong Kong) was the main destination for Brazilian meat abroad. A total of 630,600 tons were shipped to the Asian country up until July, against 634,100 tons from January to July 2020.
ABRAFRIGO highlighted that the United States has been consolidating itself as the second-largest market for Brazilian beef exports. Sales to Americans reached 53,000 tons in the first seven months of 2021, 93.2% more than from January to July 2020.
80 countries increased their imports, while 76 imported less.
