Revenue from the machinery and equipment sector up 72% in April

Revenues from the Brazilian machinery and equipment industry grew 72.2% in April compared to the same month last year, totaling R$ 16.6 billion in 2021. In the last 12 months, sales in the sector have reached R$ 179 billion, up 18.1%. The data were released on Wednesday, May 26, by ABIMAQ (the Brazilian machinery and equipment industry association).
In the first four months of the year, the sector’s revenue grew by 37.4% compared to the same period in 2020. Revenues from January to April reached more than R$ 62 billion. “The road machinery sector has grown a lot, and it has nothing to do with the pandemic. The infrastructure sector as a whole is growing, and the agricultural sector has grown the most, ”said José Velloso, president of ABIMAQ
The sector is expected to grow 13.5% in 2021.
The entity points out that in April, exports were responsible for the improvement in the performance of the machinery and equipment industry. The sector sold US$ 702.3 million in equipment abroad, 37.3% more than in the same month of 2020. In relation to March, exports were 8% higher. In the last 12 months, the sector registered a drop of 16.5% in exports.
