RIA: Russia is not interested in extending Black Sea grain deal

Russia has no interest in extending the Black Sea grain agreement but should keep exports flowing. According to the Russian news agency RIA, the decision announced on Sunday (17/12) carries a political undertone.
The agreement, which allowed Ukraine to ship grain through Black Sea ports, ended in July – a year after it was brokered by the United Nations (UN) and Turkey. Putin’s country claimed that its own food and fertilizer exports faced barriers.
“Our grain export volumes, after the termination of the grain agreement, did not fall but rather increased slightly,” Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said, as reported by the news agency.
