Cargo throughput at the Port of Rio de Janeiro reached the mark of 8.6 million tonnes from January to October 2022. The volume exceeds by 10.4% the volume recorded in the same period of 2021. The information comes from the state port authority CDRJ.
The Port of Rio de Janeiro’s positive performance in the first ten months of the year was influenced by an increase in the throughput of containerized cargo: 457,730 TEUS were handled, representing a 17.7% increase over the same period last year. In addition to containerized cargo, the good results of pig iron, liquid bulk, and steel products operations are worth mentioning.
The growth in cargo handling in 2022 compared to 2021 in the Port of Rio de Janeiro is reflected in the port’s earnings, which increased in seven of the ten months of the year. The port’s revenue from January to October 2022 was BRL 180.7 million, which, in nominal terms, represents an increase of 6.3% from the same period in 2021.
Projection 2022 – The cargo movement projection for the Port of Rio de Janeiro will be 10.4 million tonnes in 2022. According to the YTD figures up to October, the volume of 8.6 million tonnes is slightly above the projection of 8.4 million. Thus, we have 1.9% above the projected volume.
