Rondônia closed 2024 with a historic milestone, establishing itself as the second-largest exporter in Brazil’s northern region. According to the Economic Data Report from the State Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec), the state achieved a cumulative export volume of US$2.64 billion, driven by public policies promoting economic growth and foreign trade.

Governor Marcos Rocha celebrated the achievement, emphasizing Rondônia’s position as one of Amazon’s main international trade hubs. “We’ve invested in strategic sectors, improved logistics infrastructure, and prioritized the quality of our products. These efforts have attracted international buyers and increased Rondônia’s competitiveness in the global market,” the governor stated.

Although Pará remains the regional leader with US$22.97 billion in exports, Rondônia surpassed other states, including Tocantins (US$2.49 billion), Amazonas (US$970.4 million), and Roraima (US$313.9 million). This performance reaffirms Rondônia’s importance in Amazon’s export landscape, highlighting the diversification of its commodities.

Coffee Takes Center Stage in Exports

Among the exported products, coffee saw significant growth in 2024, becoming one of the state’s top five exports. A traditional product in Rondônia’s agriculture, coffee stood out for its superior quality, reflecting investments in modernizing agricultural practices, training farmers, and promoting the product internationally.

Rondônia’s top exported products included:

  • Soybeans: 36% of exports
  • Frozen beef: 35%
  • Fresh or chilled beef: 7%
  • Corn: 6%
  • Coffee: 5%

Other diversified crops accounted for the remaining 11%, contributing to the state’s economic stability.

China Leads as Top Export Destination

China remained the primary market for Rondônia’s goods, representing 23% of the total exports in 2024, with a volume of US$ 612.94 million. Other key destinations included:

  • Spain: US$ 194.53 million
  • Algeria: US$ 155.57 million
  • Mexico: US$ 127.31 million
  • United States: US$ 122.71 million

Consistent Growth in Exports

Rondônia’s performance in 2024 reflects an average annual export growth rate of 16% over the past six years, based on historical data from 2019 to 2024. This continuous progress highlights the effectiveness of public policies in strengthening the state’s position in the international market despite global economic challenges.

A Promising Future for Rondônia

With its ability to innovate and adapt to new global demands, Rondônia has emerged as an example of efficient management and sustainable development. The 2024 export record represents another step in the state’s consolidation as one of Brazil’s major economic hubs, positively impacting regional and national economies.

This achievement reaffirms Rondônia’s potential as a strategic player in foreign trade and signals a bright future for the state on the global stage.
