Rumo stands to benefit from Argentine port sector strikes
May, 28, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202123
The tension in neighboring Argentina is a window of opportunity for Rumo (RAIL3), the company responsible for transporting 26% of the grain exported by Brazil, according to analysts at Ágora Investimentos.
The comings and goings of strikes in the Argentine port sector hurt exports from the Latin American country.
On Wednesday night (May 26), unions affirmed the end of a strike that lasted almost a day. As a result of the strike, workers won the right to be prioritized for Covid-19 vaccinations.
The strike has affected grain shipments from Argentina. “The standoffs caused by strikes may reduce Argentine grain exports, benefiting Brazilian exporters,” emphasize analysts Victor Mizusaki and Ricardo França, who sign the report obtained by Money Times.
