The inspection mission to Brazilian beef and poultry establishments by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor), the first since 2015, ended in December after visiting six poultry and five beef production plants.
The Russian delegation visited six Brazilian states and the Federal District. The international team conducted technical meetings with representatives from the Department of Agropecuary Defense (SDA) and the Department of Trade and International Relations (SCRI) at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa). Alongside visits to processing plants, the delegation also toured cattle and poultry breeding facilities and official laboratories, observing the implementation of sanitary controls across the entire production chain.
Brazilian beef and poultry exports to the Russian market, which amounted to $278 million in 2022, representing a 15.4% share of Brazil’s trade balance, continued to grow in 2023. From January to October this year, the trade flow reached $250 million, comprising 22.2% of Brazil’s total exports to Russia.
The mission strengthens the trust between Brazil’s and Russia’s health authorities, reaffirming Brazil’s commitment to maintaining the highest quality and safety standards in its agricultural products. A continuous dialogue with importing countries is essential to ensure that Brazilian agribusiness products continue to gain ground in the international market.
