In a meticulously planned operation that took 14 hours, Santos Brasil received six wind blades measuring 67 meters in length and weighing 16 tons each at its Saboó Logistics Terminal in Santos. The cargo came from China on the vessel Caspian Harmony and will now head to Bolivia by road.
The operation, unprecedented at the Santos Brasil’s terminal, occurred at the end of February. The cargo transfer maneuver was planned, and the entire area was mapped and prepared to receive the large equipment as quickly, cheaply, and safely as possible. Two cranes on board the ship, among other machinery, were used for unloading the cargo, all of which had previously been validated by the security teams, specialists from Santos Brasil, and the cargo representative.
Three of these wind blades left the terminal at dawn on Thursday (30) on extensive trailers, heading for the client, a Bolivian wind energy company. The others are still stored at the company.
According to Danilo Ramos, commercial director of Port Operations at Santos Brasil, the operation was a success, which shows Santos Brasil’s capacity to offer logistical solutions to customers in the most diverse segments.
‘Furthermore, the Saboó Terminal is located in a strategic area for the port, at the city’s entrance, ideal for handling general and project cargo, with large dimensions and weight. The terminal also benefits from high operational safety and Santos Brasil’s high service level,” he says.
Operations in Saboó are exemplary of the company’s activities in the Port of Santos, where the company operates Tecon Santos (the largest and most efficient container terminal in South America) and TEV (Vehicle Terminal) and has two bonded terminals (Clias) strategically positioned on each of the banks of the port. In addition, through Santos Brasil Logística, the company provides integrated in-house logistics services and 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) operations.
